New News StoryJump In Day – Monday 29th September

Dear Parents/Carers,

We’re excited to let you know that on Monday 29th September we will be holding our next Jump In Day, the way we launch our whole-school inquiries each term.

Jump In Days are a chance for children to immerse themselves in their new learning in a fun, exciting, and memorable way. They always create a real buzz across the school and spark genuine enthusiasm for the term ahead.

This term our inquiry theme is Power and Conflict – What happens when people fight for power? Each class will explore this through a different historical lens:

  • Nursery, Reception & Year 1 – Pirate Perils!
    Why were pirates so scary?
➡️ Please dress as a pirate. Children will be building pirate boats.

  • Year 2 & Year 3 – Celtic-Roman Clash!
How did the Romans change life in Wales?
➡️ Please dress as Celts. Children will be making shields and den building.

  • Year 4 & Year 5 – Castle Chronicles!
Why were castles built, and how did they change Wales?
➡️ Please dress as kings, queens, knights, jesters etc.
➡️ Bring a picture or artefact linked to castles.
➡️ Please also bring one piece of fruit so we can share a banquet at the end of the day.

  • Year 6 – Wales at War!
How did war change life for people?
➡️ Please dress as an evacuee (shorts, shirts, dresses, jumpers, long socks, name tags, gas mask box).
➡️ Pack a small bag with five “important things” (e.g. favourite book, teddy, family photo) – be ready to explain why you’ve chosen them.

  • Buttons

Thank you as always for your support – we can’t wait for another exciting Jump In Day to kick off our new inquiries!
