we 19.9.25 St Cannas Walk

What a busy and exciting week we’ve had in Dosbarth Llwynog!

In Literacy, we have been planning and writing our own diary entries, thinking carefully about structure, style and how to include feelings and emotions. In Maths, we’ve been working hard on adding and subtracting integers as well as exploring common factors.

A highlight of our week was our local history learning. We discovered more about Saint Canna and David Jones before walking to St Canna’s Church for a visit. We were given a fascinating tour and had the chance to ask questions about the monuments, stained-glass windows and artefacts. Some of us even had a go at playing the church organ! We also sketched the monuments and wrote a recount of our trip to help us remember all the details.

The monuments in the church inspired our science learning too. They made us think about weathering and erosion, so in class we carried out an investigation using chalk and vinegar to observe chemical reactions.

It has been a week filled with creativity, curiosity and discovery.

Next week is shaping up to be another exciting one!

  • On Friday, we will celebrate Harvest with our whole school Harvest Festival.

  • We are also heading out on a school trip to the opera – a wonderful cultural experience to look forward to.

  • In Maths, we will continue our number work by focusing on common multiples and prime numbers.

  • In Literacy, we will carry on developing our diary writing skills.

We can’t wait to share all of our learning and experiences with you next week!

Don't forget to check weekly spellings on the website or Edshed.
