Dosbarth Llwynog Blog – Week Ending 4.4.25

What a fantastic week we've had in Dosbarth Llwynog! The sun was shining, the learning was exciting, and our classrooms were full of curiosity and creativity.

Maths: Rounding and Multiplying Fractions In maths this week, we’ve been sharpening our skills in rounding whole numbers and decimals. Our brains were buzzing as we tackled tricky problems and really got to grips with when and why we round numbers. We also had a great time multiplying fractions. It was a fun challenge, but we worked through it step by step, and now we feel confident in multiplying fractions by whole numbers!

Literacy: Fronted Adverbials and Biographies In literacy, we’ve been focusing on reading comprehension, ensuring we can pull out key details from a text. This is helping us prepare for writing biographies, which we’ll be doing next week. We’ve been learning how to use fronted adverbials in our sentences, such as “Suddenly,” “Afterwards,” and “Last year.” We applied these to write sentences about Greta Thunberg, and it’s amazing how much more interesting our writing sounds when we add these little details! We can’t wait to start writing our biographies soon.

Inquiry: Keynote Speeches This week in inquiry, we began to work on writing keynote speeches. We’ve been thinking carefully about what makes a good speech – what grabs attention, how to make a strong point, and how to inspire an audience. Everyone is excited to write their own speeches on climate change, and we’re looking forward to hearing each other’s presentations soon!

STEM: Repurposing a Pringles Tube In STEM, we used our thinking frames to brainstorm ideas for repurposing materials. This week, we took on the challenge of transforming a Pringles tube into a “tube amplifier.” We’re at the beginning of the design process, so we’re thinking about what materials we’ll need and how we can make the amplifier work. We can’t wait to see the results when we start building next week! Please bring in a Pringle tube next week.

PE: Rounders in the Sunshine PE this week was brilliant! We played a fun game of rounders on the field, and the sunshine made it even more enjoyable. The team spirit was incredible, and it was so much fun to run around, catch, and hit the ball. Everyone got involved, and it was a fantastic way to end the week on a high note.

All in all, it’s been a busy, productive, and fun week in Dosbarth Llwynog. Keep up the great work, everyone! Looking forward to what next week has in store. 😊

Happy weekend from all of us in Dosbarth Llwynog!
