Llwynog Learning we 17.1.25

Dosbarth Llwynog Weekly Update

Welcome to our weekly update from Dosbarth Llwynog! This week, our Year 5 and 6 class has been busy with a variety of exciting lessons, all designed to challenge our thinking, encourage creativity, and develop our skills. Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to...

Maths

In Maths this week, we’ve been revising a range of skills and concepts to ensure our mathematical foundations are strong. Our pupils have worked through a variety of challenges on Mathletics, testing their knowledge and improving their fluency in key areas. From fractions to multiplication, everyone has been practising their problem-solving skills and showing great progress.

Literacy

In Literacy, we’ve been working on our writing skills by creating our own blogs and non-chronological reports. This week’s focus was on deforestation, where the children researched this critical issue and wrote informative reports to highlight its impact on the environment. Our budding bloggers have shown fantastic creativity, and their reports are packed with insightful details and facts. We’re looking forward to sharing their writing at parents evening!

PE

In PE, Dosbarth Llwynog has been getting active with a mix of Dance and Tag Rugby. In Dance, pupils have been exploring different movements, working on coordination, and learning new routines. In Tag Rugby, they’ve been practising their passing, teamwork, and agility skills.

French

This week in French, we’ve been learning about the names of food and drink. The children have enjoyed practising new vocabulary, and we even created our very own Eat Well Plate to explore balanced diets and healthy eating. Next week, we’ll be continuing our food-related theme by discussing food likes and dislikes. C’est délicieux!

Science

In Science, our focus has been on the environment and how animals adapt to survive in different conditions. It’s been an engaging topic, and the children have shown a keen interest in learning how animals’ survival is closely linked to changes in their surroundings.

Welsh

In Welsh, pupils have continued to practise language patterns and improve their oracy skills through fun games and activities. We’ve been working on building sentences and having conversations, reinforcing our vocabulary and pronunciation.
