Plastic Creatures and Powerful Poems!

This week, in Year 3, we have been continuing our learning about saving the oceans.

At the beginning of the week, we created our own sea creatures using recycled plastic and thought about the importance of making sure that we recycle our rubbish properly.

We also learnt about different types of animal habitats, including ocean habitats, and we worked collaboratively to research about these animal homes.

Along with this, we continued our poem writing journey. We learnt more about rhyming words and generated rhyming couplets using an ocean picture. During our numeracy session, we found out about different sea temperatures around the world and why they change. Some sea temperatures are really cold!

We also had a workshop from Welsh Water and completed a lesson linked to Children’s Mental Health week. This year’s theme was ‘Know Yourself, Grow Yourself’. We thought about what makes us happy and how we can help ourselves if we are feeling a little sad.

It's been a busy week and we can’t wait for our visit to Rest Bay next week!
