Science Homework: Floating and Sinking at Home
Objective: To explore, predict, and explain why some objects float and others sink.
Instructions:
- Gather Objects: Collect 4–6 small household items (e.g., a plastic spoon, a coin, a small toy, a cork, a leaf).
- Predict: Before putting them in water, guess whether each item will float or sink. You can draw a simple picture of each item and put a tick if you predict it will float or a x if you think it will sink.
- Test: Fill a bowl or sink with water. One by one, place your items in the water. What happens?
- Next to your predictions draw a happy face it it floated or a sad face if it sank.
- Dring Yn Uwch: Why do you think some things float? Why do you think some things sink?
