Welcome Back!
🌟 Year 5 Newsletter – First Week Back! 🌟
What a fantastic start to the new school year in Year 5! Our first week has been full of excitement, learning, and getting to know one another a little better.
We began the week by sharing stories about our amazing summer holidays. It was wonderful to hear all the fun adventures, new experiences, and hobbies our classmates enjoyed over the break!
This week, pupils had the opportunity to apply for school committees and take on leadership roles. We also voted for our Head Boy and Head Girl, giving everyone a chance to practise their democratic skills and make their voices heard.
In Maths, we dived into place value activities, exploring 2-, 3-, and 4-digit numbers. Pupils used their understanding of digits and number positions to solve problems and apply their learning in fun, practical ways.
Year 5 also wrote letters to their new teacher, sharing information about themselves, their interests, and their goals for the year. This activity helped everyone reflect on their strengths and practise clear, purposeful writing.
Reading books have been sent home with children today, so please enjoy sharing these stories together. Homework will begin next week, giving pupils the opportunity to practise and extend their learning at home.
It has been a brilliant start to the year, and we’re excited to continue learning, exploring, and growing together.
Well done, Year 5!
