Upcoming Events

Jump In Day – Monday 29th September ✨
We’re kicking off our new whole-school inquiries with an exciting Jump In Day! These days are designed to immerse children in their new learning through fun, hands-on experiences that spark curiosity and enthusiasm.

This term’s theme is: Power & Conflict – What happens when people fight for power? ⚔️👑🏰✈️

  • Pirates, Celts, castles, wartime evacuees… each year group will be diving into history in their own way!

  • Please check your emails for details about costumes, preparation, and a small wish list of resources.

  • There’s absolutely no need to buy anything new – children can improvise with items from home.

We can’t wait to Jump In! 🚀

Football vs Llanfair Primary – Tuesday 30th September
Good luck to our football team as they take on Llanfair. We know they’ll show great teamwork and sportsmanship – go Team Llangan!

Rags to Riches Collection – Thursday 2nd October

Rags to Riches is a fantastic fundraising opportunity for our PTA. You can donate:

  • Adults’ and children’s clothing
  • Shoes (in pairs)
  • Handbags and belts
  • Accessories

Please send items in the bags provided (or any strong black bag) and leave them on the CwTch veranda on Thursday morning. Every donation helps us raise funds to support activities and resources for our children.

Apple Pressing Day – Thursday 2nd October
Year 6 pupils will be helping to press apples into juice – please remember to send in a clean plastic bottle so they can take some home. Thank you to our brilliant volunteers for making this possible!

Harvest Collection – Ongoing until Monday 6th October
A huge thank you to everyone who has already donated to our Vale Foodbank Harvest appeal. We’ve had an amazing response and are aiming to beat last year’s total of 300kg of food! The School Council will deliver the donations to the Foodbank in Llantwit Major on Monday 6th October.

School News

5-Star Kitchen & Breakfast Club!
Congratulations to our Catering Manager, Cez, kitchen assistant Paulette, and our Breakfast Club staff. This week, our school kitchen was inspected by Public Health Wales and awarded the top 5-star hygiene rating! Earlier in the summer, our Breakfast Club also received a 5-star rating. We are so grateful for the team’s hard work in maintaining such high standards for our children.

Y5 Morfa Bay Trip
What a week! Year 5 had an amazing residential at Morfa Bay – brilliant weather, adventurous activities, and wonderful behaviour. A big thank you to the staff who accompanied the children and made it all possible.

Nursery, Reception & Year 1 – Porthcawl RNLI Visit
An unforgettable day! Our youngest pupils visited Porthcawl RNLI, watched a real rescue launch, and enjoyed beach play followed by ice cream. A huge thank you to the RNLI team for inspiring our children and showing them the lifesaving work they do.

First Honey Harvest at Llangan
History in the making! Pupils took part in their very first honey harvest: clearing frames, spinning, and jarring the golden honey. A huge thank you to Jonathan from Bridgend Beekeepers for guiding us through every step. The children loved learning about bees, hives, and honey – and we can’t wait to share the results with you!

Harvest Festival

Our Harvest Festival was a resounding success, and I would like to express my gratitude to all the parents and family members who joined us for this special event. The children and staff worked tirelessly to bring the festival together, and their hard work truly paid off. The performances were outstanding, with whole-school songs and class performances that left everyone in awe.

Years 4, 5 & 6 – Visit to Wales Millennium Centre
To end the week, our older pupils enjoyed an inspiring schools’ concert with the Welsh National Opera. Sunshine, live music, and a taste of opera – the perfect Friday treat.

Year 6 Parents’ Meeting – Cowbridge Comprehensive
There will be a meeting for Year 6 parents and carers at Cowbridge Comprehensive School on Wednesday at 4:00 pm in the High School. This is an important opportunity to hear more about the transition process to secondary school and to ask any questions you may have.

Macmillan Coffee Morning – Thank You!
A huge thank you to everyone who supported our Macmillan Coffee Morning after the Harvest Festival. Thanks to your generous donations of cakes (and appetites!) we raised £162.12 for this wonderful charity. Your kindness and generosity are hugely appreciated.

PTA AGM – Monday 29th September, 7:30 pm
We will be holding our PTA Annual General Meeting in school on Monday 29th September at 7:30 pm. The PTA play a vital role in our small community school, raising funds to provide extra opportunities and resources for our children, as well as bringing families together. The AGM is a great way to get involved, meet other parents, and help plan the exciting events for the year ahead. We really do need your support – everyone is warmly welcome, and no contribution is too small.

Christmas Concert Dates – Important Update for Year 2 & 3 Families
There has been a little Christmas calendar confusion! To confirm:

  • Nursery, Reception, Year 1 & Year 2 Christmas Play: Friday 12th December at 9:30 am and 2:00 pm

  • Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 Junior Carol Concert: Wednesday 17th December at 10:30 am and 2:00 pm

This is slightly different from the information shared at the parents’ meeting in July. After finalising our December plans, we realised three separate concerts simply weren’t possible with rehearsals, hall use, and the many other festive events already in the calendar.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused – but promise the wait will be worthwhile. By December, we’ll all be more than ready for a sing-along to get us in the Christmas spirit!

✨ Thank you to all our families for your continued support – what a busy and exciting start to the term!
