Friday 11th April- Happy Easter

News from Around the School – Headteacher’s Blog
Dear Llangan Families,
As we head into the Easter break, I wanted to take a moment to share some of the wonderful highlights from across the school over the past few weeks. It’s been a truly exciting and inspiring time for our pupils, staff, and wider school community — and I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved together!
A Huge Diolch to Our Incredible Volunteers!
What a team effort! Our recent Help Out Day was a huge success thanks to the incredible support of our parent volunteers. You’ve made a real difference to our school environment, creating safer, tidier, and more welcoming spaces for our pupils to enjoy.
Here’s just a snapshot of what was achieved:
-
✅ Cleared brambles and blackthorn in the arboretum
-
✅ Installed a brand new water tap (cemented in and everything!)
-
✅ Moved a mountain of old wood to create a safer play space
-
✅ Tidied hedges, compost bins, and weeded the raised beds
-
✅ Pruned apple trees and repaired the polytunnel door
-
✅ Emptied the giant mint trough and made the garden beautiful again!
Diolch o galon to every single person who rolled up their sleeves to help. Your time, energy and kindness are truly appreciated.
Congratulations to Our Table Tennis Team!
We’re so proud of our fantastic table tennis team, who represented Team Llangan with pride at the South & West Wales Primary School Championships in Swansea. Organised by Table Tennis Wales, the event brought together schools from across the region — and our pupils shone with determination, teamwork and incredible sportsmanship.
Well done, team – you were outstanding!
Plaza 3 Visit the Senedd – “Climate! What’s the Emergency?”
This term, our older pupils in Plaza 3 have been investigating the climate crisis as part of their Spring inquiry. They’ve been asking big questions like:
What impact do our choices have? How do we make our voices heard? What does it take to create real change?
To deepen their learning, they visited the Welsh Parliament to:
-
Meet local representatives and discuss climate issues
-
Learn how laws are made and how citizens can influence change
-
Discover the power of youth voice in tackling global challenges
This powerful visit marks the beginning of their work to create their own sustainability campaigns, culminating in our very own Llangan Sustainability Summit 2025. Our pupils are already proving themselves to be ethical, informed citizens with something to say — and the courage to say it.
Let’s get loud. Let’s get heard. Let’s make a difference. 🌍
Eid Celebrations at Llangan!
Last Friday, we had a joyful and colourful time celebrating Eid at school. A huge thank you to Hassena Meunier for leading a wonderful session where pupils learned all about Eid and its significance.
The highlight? A talented henna artist who decorated pupils’ hands with beautiful designs – what a treat!
Eid Mubarak to all who celebrated – we’re so proud of our vibrant, inclusive school community.
Llangan Sustainability Summit 2024
What an afternoon! Our whole school came together this week for a celebration of everything we’ve learned about climate change and sustainability this term.
Led by our passionate Eco Committee, the dining hall was transformed with:
-
Stunning inquiry boards
-
Artwork inspired by Love Our Earth by Jane Cabrera
-
Powerful songs and presentations from every class
From Dosbarth Pili Pala to Llwynog, the children’s voices rang out with one clear message: small actions make a big difference.
Let’s keep turning off taps, recycling with pride, and loving our Earth – every single day. 🌿
PTA Easter Hop-a-thon & Egg Hunt!
A huge thank you to our amazing PTA for organising a fun-filled Easter celebration this week! The Hop-a-thon and Easter Egg Hunt brought smiles, laughter, and a real sense of joy across the school.
Your continued support means so much to us – diolch o galon!
Updates for the Summer Term
Please take note of the updated PE days from next term:

Nursery/Reception – Wednesday
-
Year 1 & 2 – Wednesday
-
Year 3 – Tuesday
-
Years 4, 5 & 6 – Thursday

Whole School Trip – Forage Farm
Exciting news! On Thursday 1st May, the whole school will visit Forage at Penllyn. Each class will take part in a range of hands-on workshops and farm tours, timed throughout the day to ensure everyone gets a meaningful experience.
We’ll be in touch soon with more details – but it promises to be a fantastic day of outdoor learning!
Wishing You a Safe & Happy Easter
Thank you all for your continued support, encouragement, and partnership. It’s been a busy, brilliant term — and I wish you and your family a restful, safe, and joyful Easter holiday.
See you all soon!
Warmest wishes,
Mr James Griffiths
