Dosbarth Llwynog Class Blog 13.3.25

Hello everyone!

It’s been another exciting week here in Dosbarth Llwynog! We've been busy with lots of different activities in class, from maths to literacy, as well as celebrating British Science Week with a fantastic Science Day on Tuesday. Here’s a look at what we’ve been up to:

Maths: Decimals and Fractions

In Maths this week, we've been working hard on decimals and fractions. We've been learning how to convert between the two, and we've practised adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing both decimals and fractions. It’s been tricky at times, but everyone is doing a great job of understanding the concepts and applying them in different activities. Keep up the amazing work, Dosbarth Llwynog!

Literacy: Writing a Balanced Argument

We have come to the end of our writing journey on balanced arguments. We’ve been exploring renewable energy sources and looking at both the advantages and disadvantages of these sources. Pupils have written fantastic arguments discussing topics like wind energy, solar power, and hydropower. It’s been fascinating to see everyone thinking critically about the world around us and how we can make a difference to our environment.

British Science Week: Science Day Fun

This week we celebrated British Science Week with a spectacular Science Day on Tuesday. The day was full of hands-on activities and experiments, all about exploring the world of science and sustainability. We had so much fun learning about melting ice caps, which made us think about climate change and its effects.

One of the highlights was when we created our own PowerPoint presentations about sustainability. We looked at different ways to help the planet, including recycling plastic from the ocean and turning it into useful objects. It was amazing to see everyone’s creative ideas and research coming together.

We also followed a British Science Week Adobe live lesson, where we got the chance to create a video animation about animal habitats. It was such a cool experience to learn how to use animation software and bring our ideas to life!

What’s Coming Up?

Next week, we’ll be continuing our work on fractions and decimals in Maths. In Literacy, we’ll be starting a new writing journey in biographies – we can’t wait to dive into some exciting writing activities. And in Science, we’ll be looking at more topics related to the environment and exploring new scientific concepts.

It’s been an action-packed week in Dosbarth Llwynog, and we are so proud of all the hard work that everyone has put in! Keep up the great effort, and we can’t wait for next week’s adventures.

See you all soon!
